About

With over 5,200 members, the American Association of Teachers of German is the national organization dedicated to the advancement of the language, literature, and culture of the German-speaking countries.

The Friedrich-Gerstäcker Arkansas Chapter of AATG is for teachers of German at all levels of instruction and all those interested in the teaching of German. Members shall be those who have paid annual dues.

AATG Arkansas provides professional development for teachers of German, lends extra support to new teachers of the language, represents German language teachers in AFLTA and ACTFL, communicates with school principals on German language programs, contributes to state language festivals, and provides online curricular support to language teachers.

AATG Arkansas provides professional development throughout the school year. The fall AATG meeting is held in Northwest Arkansas. The spring meeting takes place in Hot Springs in conjunction with the spring AFLTA meeting. AATG members also coordinate the German immersion session at the fall AFLTA meeting in Northwest Arkansas. In addition to annual meetings, AATG Arkansas organizes a retreat every two eyars for its members. The AATG chapter president attends the assembly of the ACTFL state president in November.
